Being Grateful

The 5 most important things I am grateful for is 1. Preston my hubbie, cutie and great guy with the oddest quirks. 2. My kids they may fight and punch, but they do and say the darndest things. 3. Parents- Which mine live up the street, I always joke theres a bend in the road so they can't see us and we can't see them. They are the greatest support to us. Thanks a ton. 4. Friends, you know who you are. For the greatest hair stylist ever and prankster. Valley friends that we see not a lot but care alot. Friends that come to doughnut night every year. 5. Gospel for with out it we would be lost. Temple marriage that my family will be together forever.

With this time of year we do need to remember what and who we are grateful for. Along with the frivolous things in life. Im grateful for a good book, chocolate, internet with a click of a button you can get anything, pumpkin pie, grandparents, fall leaves, winter snow in the mountains to ski, and my home.

I hope in coming days we are grateful for the freedoms we are granted. Be it religion, civil rights,
or anything dear to us just remember to be thankful.

How they voted

Elle had a mock vote in her third grade class. 21 votes for Mcain, and only 2 votes for obama.  Only if the rest of the country was as smart as these third graders.  Elle voted Mcain.  Jess also voted Mcain

John Roylance for President

This is who I voted for for President of the United States.  As an American I have the right to vote for whomever i want.  I picked John Roylance.  Unlike Obama and McCain he is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous , kind, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.   John is the kind of guy that will do you a solid.

I also voted for Darren Roylance, but I cant remember what.

zions extremist

Just got back from Zions with Nate Woods, and Lance Darley.  The really cool pics you see were done by Kevin Mikkelsen, He has his own little photo business.  Let me know if you want anything he has shot, and I'll get you in touch with him.

Friday we did the dos boot version of the subway.  A slot canyon located in Zions.  We started this 10 hour adventure at 5:45 in the morning.  We had to use our head lamps to see the trail.  We knew it was going to be a good day when God greeted us good morning with several falling stars. The Subway you can tell by the pics, is very cool.  Wet suits are a must, and we had to do several swims in this canyon, and about 4 simple repels of about 30 to 40 feet each.  Kevin met us at the bottom and took these beautiful pics you see of the Subway.
Saturday we did employee canyon. I suggest you google this and read the specs on it because it was indeed amazing.  It took us about 6 hours to clean this canyon.  This ended with 6  total repels of 140 to 190 feet each. dropping you 1700 feet out of the sky to the valley floor.  You hike out and end up at the employee loding, thus the name employee canyon.  Pictures below show some of the repels and shear beauty of where we were.  The last repel is a free hang because the cliff juts back super far.  TOTAL RUSH.

NOTOMATONO 2008

Benlomond Peak.

standing, Reedo, the soda brothers,  Preston and John "the schlong" Roylance. Sitting are Nate Woods and Jed(johns bro in law.) We had others comitted, and training but were not seeing results, so they dropped out.
The notomatono is a gruelling mtn bike ride that starts from top of the pass.  Just East of  N.O. town.  Take the northern skyline trail to Benlomond peak , then drops into Willard Basin.  From there you take the jeep trail to mantua. At this point you have traveled about 22 miles.  Then you drop on the paved road down to  Brigham and take the old fruit highway back south 20 miles to N.O. town  also know to yall as North Ogden.  Takes about 7 hours to do this 43 mile trek. To put it in comparison people riding the lotoja at the 7 hour mark would have covered between 120 to 150 miles to this point.  Everyone finished this year which is a first.

I love you michelle.

Reedo showed that he is the ultimate human speciman by showing up on a bike from walmart and just taking it to us.  It's not about the bike.  Reedo def.  took his share of the pulls on the way home.   Jeff this his rookie season over the mountain finished with flying colors.

Reedo and John

This is Jed (sved)  John the "schlongs" (what did you say?) brother in law.  Last year with little experience and no skills, he turned around and took the trail of shame back down the mtn, with his tail between his legs.

This year the dude did very well and even put the hurt on us a time or two on the way home.

Nathan Woods the man.  With barely any miles on his legs for the year this dude stomped over the mountain.  Animal!!!!!

The never ending summary to summer

So the end of our never ending summer summary, which I think I just did backwards.  Excuse the mistake new to this blogging.  We went to Downata Hot Springs for our last Horah of the summer.  We went with Prestons sister Holly, Thurnburn family, our poker buddies the Snars and Prestons cousin John and Kims family.  Thanks for all the fun. It was a long, fun summer so my kids can't say it was totally boring.

So like every summer you have to fit in swimming lessons.  If you ask Jess if she wanted swimming lessons she said" Heck ya, 2 weeks of swimming in a pool why not!" They had an awesome teacher Holly, thanks!  They almost are as good as Micheal Phelps.

In August we did the Marshall Bear Lake Trip.  The kids love this trip.  Trey, Kelty, and Teagen were playing a chasing game.  The girls just swam like fish all day.  My brother Brett brought his water ballon launcher which kept the kids busy for a while.

Of course we played soccer.  We did the Cache Cup in Logan. Both Elle and Jessica played.  They both did great.
